Fish Health - The Fish Health Team

The health of our fish is monitored by a team of fish health professionals.

In addition to their regular duties, our fish health professionals are always working to improve Mainstream Canada's farming practices.

Fish health technicians

• Are trained in recognizing signs of disease

• Ensure biosecurity is properly followed

• Ensure best management practices are followed

• Ensure quality control of tasks such as vaccination

• Take fish samples when required and for disease screening

• Assist veterinarians

Veterinarians

• Interpret observations and sampling results to make diagnoses

• Ensure appropriate actions are taken to maintain a healthy fish population

• Prescribe antibiotic treatments if necessary

• Prescribe in-feed sea lice treatments as required

• Ensure fish health and welfare is properly maintained
